Encourage a Nursing Home Resident
1 have signed up & 999 openings remain.
Older adults in skilled nursing homes and assisted living communities, are arguably the most isolated population during the COVID-19 pandemic. In many cases, social isolation practices have left them confined to their rooms and most enrichment programming has been cancelled.
Orange Lutheran High School, in partnership with Orange County Amazing Grace Ministries, is coordinating efforts to bring personalized encouragement cards directly into the hands of older adults and the hardworking staff at these homes. Our goal is to generate 8,000 cards to be sent to nursing homes all across our region.
In order to send encouragement cards, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Either purchase a pack of cards, a coloring book, or print some 5x7 pictures of yourself (yourself with your family is fine). If you have any card stock that is cut to 8x10 inches or less, you may use it for your encouragement notes.
Step 2: Decorate/color the materials in any way you want and write a positive, inspirational note of encouragement on the card or picture (back of the card or picture is fine to write on). Uplifting Bible verses are encouraged.
Step 3 (optional): Laminate the cards/pictures. Without lamination, your work will not be allowed into the nursing home as staff can only disinfect laminated materials. Multiple cards in one laminated sheet is fine. After lamination, do not cut; leave the laminated sheet whole. It would help tremendously if you could laminate your work. Orange Lutheran High School and OC Amazing Grace Ministries will laminate whatever is not laminated, but our capacity to laminate is very limited.
Step 4: Send your finished materials. You have two options to send your materials. Mail them to: OC Amazing Grace Ministries 700 W. First St Suite #9 Tustin, CA 92780 Hand deliver them to a drop box outside of the Welcome Center at Orange Lutheran High School anytime during business hours Monday to Friday. Last day to drop off is 5/29/2020.
Thank you for your gift of encouragement in Jesus’ name! If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Yim.
