LOVE IRVINE PARTNERS WITH THE CITY FOR IRVINE’S FOOD BOX PROGRAM
Something new is happening in Irvine, and we couldn't be more excited to be part of it.
Love Irvine has partnered with the City of Irvine to help pack and distribute monthly grocery boxes to local families in need. It's called the Irvine Food Box Program, and although we just launched in April, we're already seeing something beautiful take shape — people coming together in community to serve those needing food support. This new partnership with the City is exciting and aligns well with our mission. Unite people in our community to serve our city, in partnership with The City!
In Orange County, 1 in 8 kids faces food insecurity. 1 in 10 seniors doesn't know where their next meal is coming from. These are our neighbors.
But here's what I keep coming back to: this program is about so much more than groceries.
From the very first event, I noticed something. People were showing up as strangers and leaving as friends. Volunteers with all different backgrounds, stories, and schedules — united by one simple thing: the desire to do something good.
That's community. And it's exactly what Love Irvine was built to cultivate.
Irvine is a big city now, and it can be easy to feel isolated. I truly believe that people are hungry for connection — they just don't always know where to start. This is part of what we do. We create the space, we organize the opportunity, and we invite people in. When they show up, they find something they weren't expecting: belonging.
Volunteering gives people a sense of purpose — of being part of something bigger than themselves. And when we do that together, we're not just filling grocery boxes. We're building relationships. We're building community. We're proving that Irvine is a city that shows up for its own.
How the Program Works
Each month, there are three ways to get involved:
Set Up — Volunteers transform a space into a fully operational packing site, lifting, unloading, and organizing food items. Last Wednesday of each month | 8:30–10:30 AM | 10 volunteers needed
Pack — Volunteers assemble and pack grocery boxes with care, ensuring every family receives what they need. Last Wednesday of each month | 2:30–5:00 PM | 30 volunteers needed
Distribute — Packed boxes go out directly to families throughout the Irvine community. Second Thursday of each month | 8:00 AM–12:00 PM | 25 volunteers needed
